Integrated Moderating Systems for Centre-fires

The MAE Integrated Moderating Systems (IMS) are designed to fit most bolt-action centre-fire rifles.
The IMS design incorporates a slim 32mm diameter stainless steel moderator; the original stock is modified to suit, giving a clean-looking rifle with smooth lines.

The barrel is shortened to 20” (508 mm) screw-cut and re-crowned. With the moderator fitted, the overall length is only 74mm longer than a standard 22” (558.8mm) length factory rifle barrel with no compromise on accuracy.

This design reduces the chances of getting hooked up when hunting through dense foliage, unlike muzzle cans and the over-barrel moderators.
 
The moderator is manufactured from 100% 304L stainless steel, which offers maximum corrosion resistance with high strength and durability, yet still retaining a good weight distribution and balance.

The moderator does not incorporate an inner isolator tube. It seals on the parallel reinforcement of the rifle barrel by 2x O rings and the combusting gases are exhausted onto the exterior of the rifle barrel allowing for rapid diffusion of the blast energy.

During the course of a day’s shooting most moderators unwind, becoming loose, tip down and obstruct the flight path of the projectile, ultimately leading to bullet strike and accuracy issues. The IMS moderator design incorporates a shot-assisted torque- tensioning system, which obviates these problems.

This system works by utilising each gunshot to keep the moderator tight up against the thread shoulder, still incorporating a right-hand thread.
The result is that the shooter/ hunter does not have to remember to check the tightness of the moderator and can concentrate on the task in hand.
This slim-line design is also engineered to accept high velocity factory ammunition, with good noise reduction.
